Built-in reports cannot answer every management question

Cloud accounting and CRM products need to serve many organisations with standard report designs. A finance team may still need a custom board pack, account mapping, tracking analysis, debtor view, pipeline report, reconciliation, combined period file or calculation that the built-in report does not provide.

The natural response is to export CSV or Excel data and continue locally. That is not automatically bad: the final analysis is often easier to inspect and control. The weakness is the repeated manual process around it.
